Hear from our Head of Mathematics, Dr Peter Ayre
About Peter, the brains behind the Mathematics department
Peter has decades of experience both as a researcher in UNSW’s Mathematics faculty and as a teacher across NSW at both the secondary and tertiary levels in Mathematics. He completed his PhD at the University of New South Wales, for which he was awarded a prestigious honour by the dean, Emma Johnston. Before founding QED Education, he was actively conducting research in Combinatorics, and was a visiting fellow in Germany at Goethe University Institute for Mathematics. Peter has been the driving force behind the development of QED Education’s mathematics program, where he focuses on structuring the courses to comprehensively address the NESA syllabus, and explore potential examination problems.
What makes teachers at QED so special?
First and foremost the teachers at QED Education are experts in their subject area, most holding advanced degrees such as Masters or PhDs. Why good teachers make a difference
High school can be complicated enough as it is, layer on top of that a teacher who doesn’t completely understand the ideas themselves and you have a recipe for confusion. At QED Education, our teachers are experts in their field and have a level of understanding that makes communication seamless and thoughtful. This means that students receive a structured and holistic education where no stone is left unturned.
Learn from the best teachers in NSW
Teachers at QED have extensive expertise in their subject with many holding advanced degrees such as university doctorates.
